How to Add the NBA Schedule to Google Calendar (2026-27 Season)

How to Add the NBA Schedule to Google Calendar (2026-27 Season)

The NBA season is 82 games long. That's a lot of checking the ESPN app, the NBA website, and your team's social feed just to know when game day is. There's a better way.

With a calendar subscription, your phone and laptop already know when the Celtics tip off against the Heat — right alongside your dentist appointment and your kid's soccer game. Here's how to set it up properly.

The Quick Way: SportsCal (Recommended)

SportsCal generates a live calendar subscription URL for any NBA team. Unlike a static .ics download, it updates automatically — so when the NBA reschedules a game (it happens more than you'd think), your calendar reflects the change without you doing anything.

  1. Go to sportscal.io and search for your team
  2. Hit Add to Google Calendar
  3. Google Calendar asks to confirm — click Add
  4. Done. Every game appears in your calendar, in your timezone.

Events also include a Watch Link — a direct tap to where the game is on (ESPN, ABC, NBC, Peacock, or Prime Video for national games; locally televised games point you to your regional broadcast). If you're on your phone, it opens the app. No hunting around to figure out where to watch. Which network has which night changes through the season; here is the 2026-27 NBA TV schedule by night.

What About the Free Option on NBA.com?

NBA.com and team sites offer free calendar subscriptions that update themselves (roughly daily in Google Calendar), plus one-time .ics downloads. The subscriptions are a solid free option; they just don't include watch links or combine teams. The one-time downloads are static — games get rescheduled and start times flex, and an imported file doesn't know about any of that.

If you use the one-time download instead of the subscription, you'd need to re-import after every change.

Does It Work with Apple Calendar Too?

Yep. SportsCal subscriptions use standard iCal format (RFC 5545), so they work with Apple Calendar, Outlook, Fantastical, Hey Calendar, and anything else that supports calendar subscriptions. The same URL syncs everywhere.

What About Playoff Games?

Playoff games are included automatically. When the bracket fills in and game times are announced, they appear in your calendar. You don't need to do anything extra for the postseason.

Can I Follow Multiple Teams?

Yes — and this is where it gets genuinely useful. Calendar Collections let you combine multiple teams into a single calendar feed. If you follow the Lakers and the Celtics (bold choice), you get one subscription URL that shows all their games in one calendar. You can mix sports too — NBA + NFL + Premier League all in one feed if you want.
